JUST AN ILLUSION

Sunday, October 30th, 2011

While Leila was sewing away, I painted the letters with tape and measuring, no stencils. It took a couple of days with a few mistakes, and a lot of patience but I must say it is really satisfying now it is done! Going down to Hayes to install today.

MELLOW YELLOW

Saturday, October 29th, 2011

My canopy at The Old Vinyl Factory has been giving me a headache for months now so to see a machine in the studio and Leila Ransley working away making the canopy makes me feel very happy. Tomorrow is the big day, we are installing all the remaining elements for a big event on the 2nd November!

FATIMA’S PALACE

Friday, October 28th, 2011

I had an incredible week doing three workshops with young patients at the Royal London Hospital. So many lovely and brave youngsters and parents and they really appeared to enjoy being distracted by creating images. I am working on a project commissioned by Vitalarts to decorate 5 dining rooms in the new hospital. Lemn Sissay an incredible poet worked with the young patients and they created a collection of amazing poems. I am working with the collages and poems created by the young patients to make the new spaces.

Our canteen is up and running in the Old Vinyl Factory, Hayes. Claire, Brian and their team from Greenwich Kitchen, a fantastic social enterprise that runs a number of cafés across London, are cooking amazing food from locally sourced ingredients. I can’t wait to try some out.

SKETCHNOTES BY EVA-LOTTA LAMM

Monday, October 24th, 2011

Eva-Lotta made a great series of sketches at the conference. I am sharing the page with Pamela Mead who talked about ‘magic numbers’. A totally delightful series of sketches and such a marvelous way to record the event. (My bit is just me and my suitcase in the corner!). See Eva Lotta’s book.

WHERE SHE SHINES (PLEASE READ OUT LOUD)

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

She was definitely shining last night, I am so pleased with the effect of my new neon piece and she was glowing like sunshine in the space. There was a good turn-out at the opening of ‘Imaginary Menagerie’ at the Text/Gallery curated by Rebecca Pohancenik.

A massive thank you to Mike at Neon Circus.
